Welcome to my website. I am Friedrich “Freddy” Ewald, a software engineer working at Carta in the Bay Area, California.

I started this website as a side project in 2015 to document and keep track of my projects and share things that I learn and find interesting. I am interested in information systems, machine learning and distributed systems as well as concurrency. I currently work on backend projects where I build micro-services focussed on solving concurrency and scalability issues for code execution.

I have built scalable machine learning infrastructure for analyzing time-series with very low latency. I focussed on enabling collaboration between data scientists and engineers via Jupyter and Zeppelin notebooks at Zepl.

I believe that good technology is characterized by its simplicity. My goal is to provide simple solutions to complex problems.
